Paul Mifsud

Founder / CEO

Paul is Founder & CEO of Melita. He started Melita in 1992 to provide comprehensive HR and benefits consulting and outsourcing services to businesses of all sizes.

Under Paul’s leadership, Melita has evolved over the years to become a leader in helping businesses of all sizes achieve great HR and build an engaged workplace.

Prior to Melita, Paul was the founder and CEO of ClearBenefits, one of the pioneers in the cloud-based benefits software industry.

Karen Garavatti

VP of HR

Karen is the senior HR leader and executive advisor to HR clients of Melita. Karen is responsible for the design, project planning and delivery of all HR initiatives and programs within Melita’s HRElevate portfolio of offerings.  Her areas of focus include:

  • Performance management and talent assessment
  • Training design and facilitation
  • Career and professional development
  • Leadership coaching and development
  • Employee engagement assessments, including needs/gap analysis
  • Corporate culture development

A seasoned professional, Karen brings a wealth of experience to Melita and its’ clients, with a background that includes VP of Human Resources for AtHoc, Inc., a crisis communications start-up where Karen built and led the HR function, Sr. Director and Global HR Business Partner of Ericsson telecommunications and HR Director of Better Place, an electric vehicle start-up where Karen designed global human resources programs and processes. Prior to that, Karen was head of HR for SAP Labs in Palo Alto. Karen holds an MS from San Francisco State University.

Jodi Shah

Director of Talent Acquisition

Jodi has a recruitment background that is built off of experience both in-house, as well as in executive search.

In her role as Director of Talent Acquisition, Jodi leads the design, implementation and operation of Melita’s Talent Acquisition process services for our clients. It includes training and oversight of the process to ensure our clients’ hiring managers, recruiters, and business leaders are engaged and effectively executing a well defined Talent Acquisition process to ensure high quality and consistent results.

Prior to joining Melita, Jodi led her own full-service search practice, where she built a successful track record in full lifecycle recruitment. During this time, Jodi helped build the management team and global operations for a well-funded start up in the electric vehicle infrastructure sector as well as revamp the marketing organization of a successful pre-IPO company.

Camille Dee

People Operations Leader

Camille is an experienced, consultative and mindful Senior Global Human Resources Executive with over 20 years of experience working in HR. At Melita, Camille manages Service Installation and Delivery and HR Process and Operations.

Service Installation and Delivery:

  • Manage HR Module & Employee Portal portions of new HRComplete client installations including all technology configurations, communication and overall workflows and processes
  • Ownership and accountability to client for delivery of Melita’s HRComplete
  • Monitor and hold internal HR teams accountable for client deliverables

HR Process and Operations:

  • Design, implement and manage various service offerings such as Leave of Absence administration, Performance Management Systems, various Management Training programs, etc.
  • Deliver Director + level services to clients
  • Mentor, support, and oversee activities of the Melita’s HRComplete support team
  • Provide leadership to delivery team across Melita’s HR service offering
Nicole Quinn Gato

Nicole Quinn-Gato

Compliance and Communications Manager

Nicole is the Compliance and Communications Manager at Melita. Nicole has over 16 years’ experience in the public and private sectors handling legal and compliance issues, 10 years of which she focused specifically on healthcare-related legal, compliance, and public policy issues.

In her role as Compliance and Communications Specialist at Melita, Nicole assists clients with understanding their various employment and employee benefits compliance obligations, and works with the internal Melita team to develop processes and tools to evaluate clients’ compliance levels and recommend methods to come into compliance. Nicole also handles Melita alerts to ensure our clients are aware of new employment or employee-benefits related laws or regulations, and assists our HRComplete clients with meeting their compliance obligations through handbook and employment policy development and completing state and federal filings.

Prior to joining Melita, Nicole was a Legal Editor at ThinkHR where she helped develop employee benefits compliance tools and drafted compliance content related to employee benefits and employment laws for ThinkHR’s compliance library, newsletters, and blog. Prior to that, Nicole served in various legal and roles in Florida state government, including the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Governor’s office, where she primarily focused on health and human services legal and public policy issues.

Jodi Costello

Jodi Costello

Benefits Technology Specialist

Jodi is the Benefits Technology Specialist at Melita. She manages benefit technology implementations, open enrollments and provides ongoing support for clients that use technology to manage their benefits. Her areas of focus include:

  • Full system implementation of benefit plan rules, details, rates
  • Test client sites to ensure proper functionality
  • Ongoing maintenance of client site, including the set-up or annual open enrollments
  • Primary point of contact for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) issues and carrier discrepancies

With over 12 years of experience working in the Benefits field, Jodi has developed advanced knowledge of ADP’s WFN, PlanSource, Ease Central, and SychHR. She is also experienced with BeneTrac, Ascentis, and ClearBenefits.

Dawn Curtis

Dawn Curtis

Payroll & Implementation Manager
Dawn is a payroll expert with 20 years experience. At Melita, she oversees all client implementations of the ADP WorkForce Now system to ensure clients gain maximum benefit from the system. She also manages full cycle payroll for new clients. Adding to her credentials, Dawn has the following certifications:
  • ADP Certified Specialist: ADP Workforce Now – Payroll
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), American Payroll Association

Greg St. Geme

Vice President / Client Advisor

Greg is a Vice President within the Benefits Division of Melita. Greg has over twenty years of Benefits consulting experience. Prior to joining Melita in 2001, Greg worked in the Group Sales Division of Genworth Financial, a subsidiary of GE Capital. Greg works with many emerging venture backed companies in Silicon Valley. His deep knowledge of the benefits marketplace and his understanding of the needs of growing companies make him an invaluable resource to clients.

He has served on the Board of Directors for Community Gatepath as well as the Silicon Valley Association of Health Underwriters.

Jeff Hull

Vice President / Client Advisor

Human Resources is facing some of the toughest challenges in business today. How will the changes in healthcare today impact your benefits package tomorrow? How can you leverage technology to make life easier for you and the employees you work with? How do you keep your employees healthy, happy and motivated, all while maintaining a budget?

As a trusted advisor, Jeff has over 15 years of experience in HR and Employee Benefits helping companies answer these questions and others.

At Melita, Jeff works with small to mid-sized companies in a variety industries offering creative, innovative solutions to help them save money, time and legal liability associated with benefit plans and HR. Jeff has a hands-on approach, working with clients to understand their challenges and provide cost effective solutions, often using their current budget to help provide services that help HR be more proactive, while improving employee communications and moral.

Jeff is experienced in employee self-service technology and the benefits it offers. He has helped to install and maintain employee self-service technology into dozens of companies with wide ranging success.

He also has experience helping companies establish and grow satellite offices both domestically and internationally.

August Kats

Vice President / Client Advisor

August is a seasoned account executive specializing in Employees Benefits. He helps clients make decisions with a long term view in mind, which usually translates into bottom line savings.

August is also up to date on all industry changes, and informs clients on what is required to stay legal and to get all around competitive Benefits package. August is truly an extension of your HR team!
